Harrison Boyd - Community Service Chair
Major:Mechanical Engineering Year: Sophomore
Harrison Boyd is currently a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering. His interests/hobbies include running, weightlifting, history, video games, and paint-balling. He also plays the Trumpet and is a part of ROTC.
He joined Newman Club his freshman year because he knew he was going to be away from home at college and wanted to still be able to attend mass and grow in his faith. This was very important to him because going to mass and learning more about his faith was in his hands, as no one would tell him or encourage him into doing it, if anything just the opposite.
Lucero Sosa - Vice President
Major: Legal Studies in Business Year: Senior
Lucero Sosa is currently a senior at Hofstra University and is a Legal Studies in Business major. She is honored to be serving as Vice President of the Newman Club for the 2017-2018 school year. Being so far from home, the Newman Club has become her second home on campus. She joined her fall semester of freshman year and it has been her favorite part of her college experience so far. Each person she has met has helped her grow stronger in her faith as well as gain friendships that will last a lifetime. She can't wait to give back to the club that gave so much to her! Newman is a beautiful family to be a part of and she can't wait to expand her home towards others this upcoming year!
Angelica Beneke - Secretary
Major: Creative Writing & Literature and Journalism Year: Senior
Angelica Beneke is a senior who's studying English - Creative Writing & Literature and Journalism. Born and raised in Houston, TX, she attended Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart for high school. In addition to the expected reading books and writing short stories, hobbies include watching anime, blogging and tweeting about anime, listening to any genre of music, coloring, thinking of good podcast ideas, and posting long-winded but #relatable Facebook statuses. She hopes to be a positively influential author with an awesome website and podcast series someday.
Angelica's been part of Newman since her freshman year. As someone who's spent 14 years in Catholic schools, she wanted to join a community who shares her faith and loves it as much as she does. Safe to say, Newman exceeded those expectations and has easily become a home away from home. As secretary, Angelica hopes to give as much back to the club as it gave her and help make the club a warm and welcoming space."
